Thank you to everyone who came out to our first ever Pooch Plunge event at Riverside Centennial outdoor pool on Sunday, September 8, 2024. It was a great success! We look forward to seeing you next year.

Pooch Plunge is the one day that our Riverside Centennial Outdoor Pool is available for a dogs-only swim before the pool closes down for the season. The pool has a shallow beach-type entry that gradually slopes to a depth of 0.5 metres to 1.55 metres deep. The pool enclosure is fully fenced in.

To participate, all dogs must have a collar and leash (leashes are allowed to come off once in the water), proof of spay/neuter and vaccination record from a licensed veterinarian, and a completed waiver.

Each dog per household must be individually registered with their own waiver and forms. Admission for humans is free, and one human must accompany each dog.

This is an outdoor event, and may be cancelled should inclement weather occur. There will not be a rain date.

    Rules

    • Dogs must be accompanied by at least one human (16 years or older) who is responsible for their care and handling. The accompanying human should be familiar with the dog, including its comfort in water and swimming ability.
    • Humans are responsible for their dogs at all times and must be inside the pool enclosure at all times with their dog. The lifeguards on duty are responsible for the humans on the pool deck.
    • Each human can be responsible for a maximum of one dog.
    • Children aged 12 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times. People attending must be aware that they cannot wade or swim with their dog.
    • Only dogs are permitted in the water, no humans. Humans are encouraged to dress for all types of weather, including getting wet.
    • Humans will be asked to rinse their dogs off (on-site) prior to entering the pool.
    • If a dog begins acting aggressively towards others (both people and other dogs), it must be leashed immediately and removed from the pool enclosure.
    • Humans will be expected to stoop and scoop if necessary. A rest station is provided with cleaning supplies and disposal containers.
    • Only fully vaccinated dogs are permitted (no puppies under 4 months old permitted for this reason).
    • Once fully registered, an email will be sent including further event and safety information.
