Apply for a Building Permit:
Before starting the online application process, applicants will be required to register as a user for the appropriate system, CloudPermit or MyWindsor. (This registration process is free.) Applicants will also need to prepare any required documents in portable document format (PDF) to be uploaded into the application system.
Note: Payment notifications for MyWindsor applications will be sent via email. Applicants will receive a "Request to Submit Payment" email that includes instructions on how to proceed with the online payment.
New Building Permit Applications:

- For building permits applied for outside the CloudPermit system, a re-submission application can be obtained through the MyWindsor system. When prompted, please select "Form D."
- For building permits applied through CloudPermit, re-submission applications can be applied for through your previous application. This is found under the "More Actions" button at the top right-hand corner of your workspace.

Apply For a Mobile Sign Permit:

For a mobile sign permit, please select "Form G" when prompted in the system. Applicants must fill out the online application and provide the following information:
- Property information (address, postal code, and unit number if applicable)
- Sign dimensions (height, length, and width)
- Message to be advertised
- Applicant information (name, phone number, email address, etc.)
- Property owner information (same as above — if owned by a corporation, please provide business name)
- Site plan showing the location of the proposed mobile sign as well as dimensions to the property lines.
Questions regarding the location of the sign as well as any Special Sign Districts are required to be completed through the application process.
Obtain a Liquor Licence Letter:

For a liquor licence letter request, please select "Form E" when prompted in the system. Applicants must fill out the online application and provide the following information:
- Property Information (address, postal code, and unit number if applicable)
- Establishment information (business name, anticipated occupancy, etc)
- Applicant information (name, phone number, email address, etc.)
- Property owner information (same as above — if owned by a corporation, please provide business name)
- A valid hospitality food service business licence from the City of Windsor.
- A dimensioned floor plan from an architect, engineer, or large building BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) designer containing the following information:
- Location of tables
- Opening clear width of exit doors
- Width of egress path
- Dimensions of areas on floor plan
- Employee washroom locations
- Quantity of water closets, sinks, and urinals
Note: A liquor licence letter is a separate but related process to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) Liquor Licence, and both must be obtained. This municipal letter is to indicate an occupant load for the licensed area.
Obtain a Seasonal Non-Residential Private Property Patio Letter:

For a seasonal non-residential private property patio letter request, please select "Form E2" when prompted in the system. Applicants must fill out the online application and provide the following information:
- Property Information (address, postal code, and unit number if applicable)
- Establishment information (business name, anticipated occupancy, etc)
- Applicant information (name, phone number, email address, etc.)
- Property owner information (same as above — if owned by a corporation, please provide business name)
- A valid hospitality food service business licence from the City of Windsor.
- A dimensioned site plan containing the proposed seasonal patio location on the property
- A dimensioned floor plan containing the following information:
- Location of tables
- Path of egress
- Patio dimensions
Issued seasonal non-residential private property patio letters are valid between March 1 and November 30 of the year they are issued. The above criteria and process may vary for letter requests received outside the above indicated dates.
Note: If there is intent of serving alcohol on a seasonal non-residential private property patio, please be sure to apply for an expansion of the liquor licence letter to include your permitted outside patio if not done previously. If any part of the patio is located on public property, please reach out to the Right-of-Way Department regarding a "sidewalk café" either by email at engineeringdept@citywindsor.ca or by phone at 519-255-6257.
