Dental and Denture Services
A dental card is attached to each month’s Ontario Works (OW) cheque or statement you receive for the adult members of the benefit unit. A current dental card must be provided to the dentist/denturist at each scheduled appointment. Clients may be expected to pay for denture or dental services not covered by Ontario Works.
Dental Services for Adults
Ontario Works covers emergency dental services only, which are available to eligible adults as follows:
- Adults (19 years of age or older) in receipt of Ontario Works are eligible for emergency dental care only (relief of pain)
- Dependent adults (ages 18-21) of Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) clients may be eligible for emergency dental care only (clients to contact the ODSP office for more details).

Children of Ontario Works recipients are covered through the Healthy Smiles Ontario dental program. This program provides free dental care for children and youth 17 years of age or under. Every child enrolled will receive their own dental card. Please note the expiry date on the child’s dental card.
