Official Plan Review
An official plan describes your municipal council or planning board's policies on how land in your community should be used. It is prepared with input from your community and helps to ensure that future planning and development will meet the specific needs of your community. An official plan deals mainly with issues such as:
- Where new development can locate
- How existing and future neighbourhoods will be strengthened
- How Windsor's environment will be enhanced
- What municipal services, such as roads, water mains, sewers and parks, will be provided
- When and in what order Windsor will grow
- Where new housing and intensification priorities will be located
The Ontario Planning Act requires all municipalities to periodically update their respective official plans. It is expected that council will regularly update the official plan to ensure that the plan implements any changes to the Provincial Policy Statement or provincial plans. Further information on official plans can be found at Official plans: Citizen’s guide to land use planning (ontario.ca).
