Huron Church Urban Design Master Plan

Huron Church Road is one of the main routes through Windsor.  Beginning at one of Windsor's most enduring physical landmarks, the Ambassador Bridge (which crosses the Canada-U.S. border), it passes the University of Windsor's southern campus and proceeds to the north end of the city. Especially for first-time visitors, Huron Church Road helps to form impressions of the city, the university, the province and our country. This is why Windsor's Official Plan designates it as a "Civic Way".

In 2004, Windsor City Council adopted an urban design agenda called WindsorSEEN. Among the most urgent of its 35 activities is the "Redesign Huron Church Road Civic Way Features." Council also directed Administration to "report on how the designs relate to the overall conceptual urban design approach of "an environmentally friendly regenerative green zone, where landscape is emphasized."
