International Trails Day Event
Calling All Volunteers!
Make your mark on Windsor’s riverfront and the Trans Canada Trail!
As part of a nationwide initiative to preserve and enhance the world’s longest trail network, the City of Windsor proudly hosted Trail Care Day 2024 on Saturday, June 1, 2024, along the scenic waterfront. Sponsored by Trans Canada Trail, this event was a highlight of International Trails Day, inviting communities across Canada to come together in celebration of the 28,000-kilometre trail system.
Locally, Trail Care Day took place at Dieppe Gardens Park, located along the Trans Canada Trail and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. Over 50 enthusiastic volunteers joined forces to collect garbage along the trails and surrounding parks, enhancing the beauty and safety of Windsor’s outdoor spaces. The fun-filled day also featured informational booths, free yoga sessions, sculpture washes, Art Cart tours, giveaways, and refreshments, making it a true community event for all ages.
Trail Care Day 2024 was part of a larger, multi-location event held in 10 communities across Canada. The City of Windsor encourages residents to continue exploring and caring for their local trails while being part of the broader effort to maintain the world’s longest trail network.
