Playgrounds

Playgrounds across Windsor are being replaced over 2026–2027 at 35 different parks, in addition to a new destination playground at Lanspeary Park. Design work is now underway, and public input is open for a limited time.

Take these two short online surveys to provide input on both projects:

Both surveys will be available until April 30, 2026. Community feedback is essential to guide the design, play features, and overall experience for both projects.

What's Happening

Windsor continues to invest in parks across the city through its ongoing Playground Replacement Program, renewing aging playgrounds and creating new places to play for the community at large.

Over the past several years, dozens of playgrounds have been replaced with modern equipment and rubber surfacing, enhancing play opportunities city-wide.

Many existing playgrounds have reached the end of their lifecycle and are being replaced with updated equipment and layouts.

In addition, Council has supported the first phase of the Lanspeary Park Master Plan, which includes the design and installation of a new super playground.

Playground Replacements (2026–2027)

The City of Windsor is replacing 35 aging playgrounds as part of a multi-year program approved by City Council. This work builds on previous investments that have already upgraded a significant number of playgrounds city-wide. As older playgrounds are removed, they are replaced with updated designs that reflect current standards and incorporate community input, ensuring continued investment in parks for the community at large. This work demonstrates Council’s commitment to maintaining vibrant neighbourhood parks and outdoor recreation spaces across Windsor.

Lanspeary Park Super Playground

As part of the approved Lanspeary Park Master Plan, a larger destination playground is planned that will serve families from across the city. This playground is estimated to be twice the size of Windsor’s largest playground at Riverside Baseball Miracle Park. Read more about Lanspeary Park.

Optimist Memorial Park Playground Replacement

A new large playground is also planned for Optimist Memorial Park, with construction anticipated to begin in spring 2026 and be completed by summer 2026. The public survey for this project has already been completed, and feedback received will help inform the final design.
