​This is an ideal opportunity for you to make an impact in a child’s life and it’s the best way to get experience. It’s not something someone can teach you, it’s not something you can learn, it’s something that you need to experience.

On any given day you would meet the child in the family’s home, learn about their day and then come up with activities based on the child’s strengths and interests. You can develop fun and creative activities in the family’s home and in the community. Activities could include going to the park, the library, working on academics, social skills, playing sport activities while connecting with the child’s peers.

You must be 18 years of age or older, have access to a vehicle, be willing to make a long term commitment of at least 1 year, have related education or experience with children and families and reside in Windsor/Essex.

​DIRECT SUPPORT PROVIDERS NEEDED

Family Respite Services (FRS) Windsor/Essex is a community organization working in partnership with 1200 families caring for children with disabilities.

Direct Support Providers provide a short break to the parents, while the child and Direct Support Provider engage in meaningful activities in our community.

FRS is looking for 50 Direct Support Providers across Windsor/Essex to provide support in the family’s home and in the community.

  • $15-$25/hour depending on level of funding/support

  • 4-10 hours/week with one family, you set your availability (most families want respite after school, evenings or weekends, a couple of hours a day, a couple of days a week)

  • Complete a one page application on-line

  • If you are selected to move forward a ½ hour in person screening at Family Respite Services

  • Police Clearance

  • 3 reference letters verified​
