Joe Rosenthal’s Lady presents the human figure with impressive stance. The solid, rounded shape complements the sitter’s expression of concern. Much like other works by Rosenthal in the Windsor Sculpture Park collection, Lady evokes similar emotion to that of Neighbours and Consolation. All three sculptures have a supporting component that the figures either sit or lean on, yet they exist unapologetically solid and strong. Lady, unlike the others, leans in solitude, looking off into the distance.
