Lodging House Class 1 and Class 2

Business Licensing By-law 395-2004, Schedule L1 (see By-laws Online)

Applicant Requirements:

• Application for Lodging House, Class 1 - where the operator provides no assistance to the resident in caring for their health and for their personal needs, including washing, dressing or eating.
• Application for Lodging House, Class 2 - where the operator provides assistance to the resident in caring for their health and for their personal needs including washing, dressing or eating.
• Business Ownership Declaration
• (2) pieces of government-issued identification including one photo I.D. as well as one I.D. demonstrating proof of status in Canada (e.g. birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship card, permanent resident card, work permit, etc.) for the applicant and their agent
• Certificate of Incorporation, if applicable
• Master Business Licence, if applicable
• Police Clearance for owner and agent (new only, issued by the municipality in which the applicant resides and not more than 30 days old)
• Floor plans showing measurements and designation of each room (new only)
• Electrical approval
• Board of Health Inspection Certificate - visit www.wechealthunit.org.
