Brownfields Property Tax Assistance Program
Purpose
Encourages the remediation and rehabilitation of brownfield sites.
Description
Provides a grant in the form of a cancellation of part or all of the property tax increase during the "rehabilitation period" and the "development period" of a property.
Financial Details
Offers a freeze of City property taxes on a brownfield property for up to three (3) years during and after remediation and construction. Property owners may also apply to the Province for a matching freeze of education property taxes for up to 3 years.
Requirements
This program applies only to properties requiring environmental remediation and/or risk assessment/management.
