International Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain
Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain, 1978
Floating fountain, bronze plaque
Originally installed in 1978, the Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain was a technological marvel and the only international floating fountain in the world. It could propel water 70 feet into the air and featured a nightly light show, becoming a cherished landmark and gathering place in Windsor’s Coventry Gardens. Dedicated to union leader Charles Brooks, the fountain honoured his contributions to social progress and workers' rights.
As the fountain neared the end of its lifespan, ongoing repairs became increasingly costly. It has now been removed, and a new International Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain is in design, with completion planned for 2027. For updates on the project, visit www.PeaceFountain.ca.
