In 1964, the City of Windsor and a group of former Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) veterans purchased a Lancaster Bomber from the Canadian Government, which was erected here as a memorial to the men and women who served the RAF and RCAF. After forty years of being exposed to the outdoor elements, it was removed for restoration and in 2005 was replaced with two replicas of planes that flew in the Second World War. The Hurricane and Spitfire are placed overtop a garden silhouette of the Lancaster Bomber.

The original bronze plaque was moved to Dieppe Gardens and was replicated in granite here.
