Support for Residents During Extreme Weather
With steadily declining temperatures in the forecast, the City of Windsor and the County of Essex want to remind residents, and in particular those who are experiencing homelessness in Windsor and Essex County, that there are options available to stay warm overnight.
To ensure no one has to sleep outdoors, the City of Windsor has been working with the County of Essex and local service providers to open temporary overnight warming centres that can accommodate more than 70 people each night. These spaces are in addition to the 187 emergency shelter beds available across the region year-round.
