Potential Delays at Border Could Impact Tunnel Bus

The Windsor-Detroit tunnel remains open, but delays are possible.

Transit Windsor wants riders to know they may experience delays returning to Canada using the Tunnel Bus or Detroit Special Event service if a labour disruption by employees of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) takes place.

As outlined in a release by the Public Service Alliance of Canada union (PSAC), job action could begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024.

“Our Tunnel Bus is just like any personal or professional vehicle crossing our border,” said Transit Executive Director Tyson Cragg. “We’re not immune to delays, so we just want to ensure riders know we could all face delays when returning to Canada.”

At this time, Transit Windsor’s service to Detroit will remain in operation as normal, and the situation will be monitored for any changes.
