By-Election Called to Fill Vacant Ward 2 Seat
Windsor City Council, at its meeting held July 14, 2025, voted that the City Clerk be directed to conduct a by-election to fill the vacant Council seat in Ward 2.
Nominations open on Monday, July 21, 2025, and candidates seeking nomination will have until September 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. to register.
The by-election will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Polling locations are being finalized and will be released soon. Advance voting will take place on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Campbell Baptist Church, 1821 Wyandotte Street West.
Residents seeking nomination must fill out the prescribed forms, which will be available in the City Clerk’s Office (350 City Hall Square West, Suite 530) as of July 21. A nomination filing fee of $100 applies (cash, debit, or credit card payment only).
Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), from July 21 to September 11, 2025, or between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Nomination Day, September 12, 2025.
Those wishing to run for election must be, at the time of being nominated:
- A resident of the city of Windsor or a non-resident-owner or tenant of land in the city of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant,
- A Canadian citizen,
- At least 18 years old, and
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
