Supreme Restoration Steps Up for SOAR Program
Participants in the Sports, Opportunities, Academics, and Recreation (SOAR) after-school program at Windsor Water World will receive back-to-school supplies courtesy of Supreme Restoration Services.
“The generosity shown by Brandon and his team at Supreme Restoration Services is so heartwarming,” said Katie Pavlovski, Acting Supervisor of Community Programming at Windsor Water World. “This is the second time this organization has given back to our families in the Glengarry neighbourhood, and we are just so grateful for everything they do for us. Thank you for your perpetual kindness. It means more than you know!”
SOAR is a free and inclusive after-school program that offers fun and stimulating activities for kids aged 5 to 18. In addition to active play, kids have time to socialize with friends and do homework with assistance from the staff. Participants are also taught the importance of healthy eating and are provided nutritious snacks daily.
This program is funded by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, and the City of Windsor.
Each of the 25 children involved will receive a new backpack filled with all the school supplies needed to be successful in the new school year.
Representatives from Supreme Restoration Services have dropped off the items to City of Windsor staff, who will be on-site outdoors in Fred Thomas Park (adjacent to Windsor Water World) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, to distribute the gifts to the students. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as facemasks, gloves and face shields will be worn by all staff. Children will be asked to wear a facemask when they arrive for their scheduled pick-up time, and hand sanitizer will be available for all.
The SOAR program is one of many great recreational opportunities offered by the City of Windsor. Find out more and register for a variety of fall programming by visiting ActiveWindsor.ca online.
