Open Streets Windsor 2019 – Be Part of Something Amazing!
Open Streets Windsor returns this September to connect our diverse neighbourhoods and people across our community on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 10am to 2pm.
As thousands have witnessed over the past three years, this free community event will see an (updated) eight-kilometre route along Sandwich Street, Riverside Drive West (new this year!), University Avenue West, Wyandotte Street East and Drouillard Road temporarily opened to people but closed to cars.
The newly added River Rest hub stretches along Riverside Drive West and offers an opportunity to relax, take in the view and take the perfect selfie!
Once again, event organizers are looking for volunteers, as well as individuals, organizations and businesses to contribute ideas and activities at hubs along the massive event route.
Our valued volunteers are a major part of our success each year, and we are again looking for individuals who are fun, friendly and excited about making a difference! Volunteer duties include greeting, safety monitoring and supervision of roadway barricades.
In addition to providing a space for people to walk, cycle, roller blade, etc. along the route, hubs are designated for community partners, including individuals, businesses and organizations to carry out activities that promote health, physical activity, arts and culture—and that’s where you come in! Activities must be free and encourage the greatest possible participation from people of all ages and abilities.
If you would like to become a volunteer or a supporting activity partner, or if you’d just like to learn more about the event, visit www.OpenStreetsWindsor.ca or our Open Streets Windsor 2019 Facebook event page.
