Having first declared a State of Emergency on March 20, 2020 in the City of Windsor, Mayor Drew Dilkens also ordered the temporary closure of Devonshire and Tecumseh Malls for a period that was set to expire on Sunday April 5, 2020.

Recent updates from the Province of Ontario include:

  • Closure of all non-essential workplaces, effective March 24, 2020
  • Limitation on non-essential gatherings to no more than 5 persons, effective March 28, 2020
  • Extended Provincial Declaration of Emergency, at least until April 13, 2020
  • Announced that public schools will remain closed to students, at least until May 4, 2020.

Today, Mayor Dilkens extended the temporary closure for an additional two weeks, at least until 11:59pm on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

“All reports from public health officials indicate that COVID-19 cases are on the rise and continue to impact our community,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “We need to take the advice seriously: stay home, don’t go out unless you absolutely need to and practice social distancing at all times.”
