Lane Closures Begin for Huron Church Reconstruction

Starting this weekend, motorists will begin to see lane closures on Huron Church Road between Malden Road and Pool Avenue as work gets underway on the latest infrastructure upgrades, including new concrete, curbs, sidewalks, medians and street lighting.

Beginning Saturday, April 11, 2020, southbound Huron Church will be reduced to one lane. In addition, Malden Road will be closed from Daytona to Huron Church. Furthermore, westbound traffic on Malden to Huron Church will only be permitted to make a right hand turn. Northbound Huron Church will continue to see two lanes of traffic open until the crossover takes place on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

The 4.83-million-dollar reconstruction project is possible thanks to three million dollars in funding from the provincial government under the Connecting Links Program. The City will contribute the remaining funds. Huron Church Road from Malden to Dorchester was completed last summer.

Access to all businesses will remain open, and information has been distributed to businesses and residents along the route, to the Ontario Trucking Association and to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).
