City Welcomes Partnership from Motor City Community Credit Union

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and Ward 6 Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac were joined by Rob Griffith, CEO of Motor City Community Credit Union (MCCCU); Don Fraser, MCCCU Board Chair; additional MCCCU team members; and City staff to unveil one of two new signs along the Clairview Bikeway Trail and celebrate a new partnership.

The 6-by-3-foot wooden signs, accented with solar lighting, acknowledge the latest private sector commitments to the City trail system, displaying the strong community support for keeping our trails accessible and ready for community use.

There are now over 140 kilometres of multi-use trails in Windsor, an increase of 12 kilometres since 2019. City Council’s commitment to the construction of new recreational multi-use trails not only increases the availability for wider public use but also benefits the environment with the hundreds of trees planted alongside new multi-use trails. Council has also increased investments in maintaining and upgrading multi-use trails, and private partnerships have added wayfinding signage for safety while also increasing the visual community support to the trails effort overall.

The Clairview Bikeway Trail is approximately 2.1 kilometres in length and connects with the Ganatchio Trail on one end and Wyandotte Street East at the other. The trail follows the route of the historic St. Clair Hydro Electric Railway and is used by walkers, joggers, cyclists, and more.

“The City of Windsor appreciates this generous partnership from the Motor City Community Credit Union in support of our multi-use trails. This type of partnership helps us to deliver results for parks and recreation offerings by improving our open spaces, increasing safety and accessibility in City parks, and encouraging healthy active living options for residents and visitors alike.”

“We really appreciate the Motor City Community Credit Union teaming up with the City in this way. They’re a wonderful part of the Ward 6 fabric already, and this latest commitment from them is just another great sign of their ongoing commitment to community improvements that matter to our residents.”
- Ward 6 Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac

“At Motor City Community Credit Union, we recognize the importance of healthy finances and healthy living within our community. With the five-year sponsorship of Clairview Bikeway Trail, we hope residents will enjoy active living with their families on this quiet stretch of a beautiful multi-use trail.”
