Access to Black Oak Heritage Park Switching to Sandwich Street

Black Oak Heritage Park and Broadway Dog Park will soon be accessible from Sandwich Street only.

As part of the ongoing Gordie Howe International Bridge project, a temporary detour is required for park users, as well as businesses currently accessing Broadway Avenue, from Ojibway Parkway.

A section of the road immediately west of the Essex Terminal Railway tracks and east of Ojibway Parkway requires paving. This work is scheduled to begin May 14, 2018 and is anticipated to take four to six weeks.

Through traffic will not be permitted on Broadway Avenue during this time. Signage indicating the road closure will be in place at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Ojibway Parkway.

Access to Broadway from Sandwich Street will begin on Monday, May 14, 2018.

During the detour, drivers should exercise caution when travelling on the perimeter access road, as construction equipment and vehicles may be present. Vehicles may at times be directed by traffic flag people.
