<description>We are experiencing collection delays for both garbage and recycling pick-ups in some of our collection zones.  <br />

Garbage Collection:<br />
For the current week, residents in  Areas 3 and 4 should place their garbage at their designated collection point  on their scheduled day as identified in the collection calendar.   These Areas will be picked-up by end of day Friday.   <br />

Recycling Collection:<br />
For the current week, residents in Zones 3B and 4B should place their recycling at the curb as identified in your collection calendars.  We will collect recycling until 6:00pm Saturday evening. Any recycling not collected by this time will be collected on Tuesday September 7th, 2010 starting at 5:00 am.<br />

Note:  This year's final tax billing was split into two separate billings. The first billing covered all tax accounts that had a residential (RT) assessment only.  This second billing will be for all non-residential assessment classes (e.g. commercial, industrial, multi-residential, farmland, pipeline) and will also include residential assessment properties that have a non-residential assessment component (e.g. a property with residential and commercial or a property with residential and farmland assessment).  The split billing process served to accommodate those property tax bills that were affected by a joint effort on behalf of City Council and the Ontario Minister of Finance to provide for additional property tax reductions. <description>The manifested program offered for tunnel bus and special event bus to Detroit will be suspended effective Sunday, August 15, 2010.  However, tunnel and special event buses will continue to operate, as scheduled.  <br />
<br />
Only the ‘manifested' program of reserving a seat and providing documentation for pre-authorization to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be suspended.  Residents will still be able to depend on buses to Detroit and to Comerica Park and Ford Field, but will no longer be able to reserve a ‘manifested seat'.  <br />
<br />
Special Event buses operate for all Tigers and Lions home games, plus select concert events, as follows:<br />
•	75 and 45 minutes prior to the game or concert at Comerica Park.  <br />
•	Bus leaves from Comerica up to a maximum of 30 minutes after the end of the game, concert or conclusion of  Tigers' fireworks display.  <br />
•	Same schedule is in effect for select concerts at Ford Field, to and from the venue.  <br />

<description>July 28, 2010 – WINDSOR, Ontario:  It is always a sobering time when a prominent industry leaves the corporate citizenship of our city, and the closure of the final General Motors operations here is especially significant for us all.<br />
<br />
It was 91 years ago, in 1919, that the new entity which was to become the industrial giant called General Motors took its first step along Windsor's roadway to becoming what we still are: Canada's Motor City. <br />
<br />
GM's first Windsor presence was modest: a branch operation of the Fisher Body Company of Detroit.  It was located on St. Luke Rd. in our Drouillard neighbourhood and employed only a modest number of workers.<br />

But this was only the beginning.  In succeeding years, General Motors of Canada established axle and engine plants, a vehicle assembly facility, a transmission plant, and in overall terms, spent billions of dollars and employed thousands of our working men and women.<br />

<description>Thanks to Rona, the ‘Canadian How-To-People', fans will be able to park at Rona's east end store and catch a shuttle bus to the WFCU Centre for Spitfires' home games.  This new service is provided based on public requests for additional parking options at the WFCU Centre for Spitfire games.<br />
<br />
·	Shuttle buses will leave every 15 minutes beginning 90 minutes prior to the start of the game.  Buses board from the south corner of the Rona parking lot at 7350 Catherine Street, just off of Lauzon Parkway and Tecumseh.<br />
   <br />
·	The cost of the roundtrip shuttle service is $3 per person, a valid bus pass or transfer slip.  The fare is paid when boarding at Rona.  <br />

·	Shuttles begin returning to Rona immediately after the game and up until 30 minutes after the game. <br />

<description>The City of Windsor has launched an official informational Facebook page for the 2010 Municipal Election.  Election Day is Monday, October 25, 2010.<br />

The new page is intended to provide key updates to voters and candidates regarding the upcoming election. It is not a political forum, and the page's comments will be monitored for appropriateness. Comments will be addressed by City staff during municipal business hours in as timely a fashion as possible.<br />

<description>June 22, 2010 - The wait is over, and the verdict is in:  Windsor is on the board.  Mayor Eddie Francis joined students and staff at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School this morning to hear Hasbro's live announcement, web-cast from Ottawa.<br />

Windsor finished in 6th place, which means the most expensive yellow property on the board.  This was a jump of two spots over 8th place, where Windsor sat on the leader board at the start of the blacked-out final week of voting in February.<br />

<description>In accordance with the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act (PSSDA) the City of Windsor is required to disclose salaries and benefits paid to employees who earned $100,000 or more as reported on the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency T4 slip.<br />
<br />
Please note there are a significant number of salaries included on this year's list that do not reflect the ongoing regular annual salaries of those employees.  These one-time payments are related to overtime paid to non-union employees during the municipal work stoppage to maintain critical municipal services; one-time retroactive payments for pay equity adjustments; and Police contract duty earnings.<br />

<description>Standard and Poor's (SandP) Ratings Services has reaffirmed its issuer credit and senior unsecured debt ratings for the City of Windsor as 'AA' due to moderate and improving debt burden, respectable budgetary performance and adequate financial flexibility.  In doing so, the rating agency noted a number of positive initiatives, which are now beginning to come to fruition.  These initiatives include the pay as you go and debt reduction plan, as well as, the capital-reserves enhancement plan.<br />

<description>On Monday, June 22, 2009, 18 diesel-electric fully accessible hybrid buses were unveiled to the community by Transit Windsor Board of Directors' Chair and City of Windsor Ward 2 Councillor Caroline Postma, with Essex MP Jeff Watson, and Windsor West MPP Sandra Pupatello. The 18 diesel-electric hybrid buses are the first alternative fuel buses for the City of Windsor's transit system, highlighting its focus on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG), reducing particulate matter emissions and improving fuel economy.<br />
