Peace Beacon

Peace Beacon

The Peace Beacon is located within Dieppe Gardens facing the Detroit River.

Designed by PACE Architects the 3,200-square-metre building features a restaurant, and facilities for visitors such as washrooms, telephones, and information, plus a 15-meter landmark tower made of granite, steel and glass.

The newest addition to Windsor's riverfront parkland features a rooftop patio for sightseeing with walkways and stairs accessible from Riverside Drive and a trellis-covered patio. The building is constructed into the landscape to maintain pedestrian views of the scenic skyline.

WindsorEssex Community Foundation contributed significant funds to construct the Peace Beacon with its customized exterior finish and interior lighting.

At a project cost of more than $3 million, the Peace Beacon is the second of five beacons proposed in the city's Central Riverfront Implementation Plan. The CRIP outlines the long term plans for developing Windsor's six-kilometre stretch of riverfront.
