The Hirons House Hotel, built for

William B. Hirons in the 1850s,
originally occupies this site.
It was enlarged in the 1870s
under the name American Hotel.
The name was changed to
British-American Hotel in 1883.
The Building was demolished to
permit expansion of the
Riverfront Park in 1975.
